Private Land Reforestation Program

Northern interior, BC
Canada
Fall 2019
[ Service OVERVIEW ]

We connect landowners with funding and provide technical expertise to restore lands impacted by wildfire or other disturbances. We manage the entire process — from planning to planting — making participation straightforward, effective, and low-effort. Thanks to our NGO partners, reforestation services can be available at no cost to private land owners.

Since 2023, we’ve planted in various regions, including: Vancouver Island, Fraser Canyon, Gun Lake, Lytton, West Kelowna, South Cariboo, North Shuswap, and the East Kootenays.

We sincerely hope to plant more and work with you on reforesting our earth!

No-cost reforestation for land owners

Renew forest cover

If your forest has been lost to natural disturbance, removed by previous land use, or simply isn’t regenerating on its own, we can help restore it. We also work with landowners who want to transform unused or fallow fields into productive forest. Re-establishing forest cover adds long-term ecological and economic value while enhancing the natural beauty of your land.

Stabilize soils and streambanks

Decades of land disturbance have altered waterways and stressed aquatic ecosystems. By restoring forests along riparian areas, we help stabilize soils and streambanks while improving water quality. Tree roots strengthen the soil below ground, while the canopy above provides shade and habitat that support healthier streams and aquatic life.

Promote biodiversity

Healthy forests are diverse forests. Our private land planting programs aim to create dynamic, mixed-species stands that support birds, mammals, pollinators, and countless other organisms. By restoring structural diversity in forests, we help build resilient ecosystems that can adapt and thrive over time.

Sequester carbon

Trees are among nature’s most effective tools for capturing carbon. By restoring forest cover, we help remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and store it in wood and soils. Planting trees is a powerful way to contribute to climate solutions while leaving a lasting legacy on the land for future generations.

How it works

We plant. You breathe fresh air.

Below you’ll find the typical steps when it comes to assessing private land for reforestation. For more information on your cost-free project, contact us!

  • After contacting us, you’ll complete a short intake form. We then schedule a site visit to:

    • Assess site access and soils

    • Evaluate natural regeneration potential

Understand your vision to align our plan with your goals

  • If your site is suitable, we create a custom reforestation plan. Our team connects with funding partners to cover the planting costs, so your involvement is easy. Plans can include a mix of conifer and deciduous species at densities designed to support a healthy, resilient, and natural forest.

  • Seedlings are carefully selected and grown to match your property’s climate, giving them the best chance to thrive. Our experienced field team ensures professional planting and care.

  • Survival surveys typically occur at 1, 3, and 5 years post-planting to track tree growth. Surveys are coordinated with you in advance — no extra effort needed — and results guide our future planting strategies.

Our work lays the foundation for a future forest that can grow into a unique, productive, and resilient ecosystem.

Together, we can restore your land and create a lasting legacy for generations to come.

Note: Replanted areas are maintained for 20-50 years (depending on the funder). Areas intended for development or infrastructure should be excluded.
